The shares I own of PWE have Canadian tax taken when the dividends are paid. The $.34 dividend is reduced by about 3 cents when I receive them. I can claim the foreign taxes paid on my tax return. The Canadian companies do not all DRIP programs for non Canadians. There are some good U.S. oil and gas trusts if you are looking for reinvestment.

I just came across your blog. I’m interested in buying some PWE but don’t understand the US tax implications. Since I’m a small investor, I wonder if it might be too complicated.
Also, can the dividends be reinvested?
