New Energy Finance – NEX – Weekly Review
Each week I put up a recap of the WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index, the NEX. The NEX is sponsored by New Energy Finance Ltd. of London, England. The NEX currently consists of 89 stocks from 20 countries which are divided into 7 sectors of renewable or clean energy companies. The NEX is tracked by the PowerShares Global Clean Energy Fund ETF (PBD: 9.68 0.00 0.00%).
For the week ending on Friday the NEX was down 1.9%, similar to the NASDAQ and S&P500, down 1.3% and 1.7%. Solar energy was the furthest fallen, down 3.6%. Power storage companies gave the best return, with a positive 1%. Seems like a relatively sleepy week for this often volatile index.
