New Portfolio tracking system
In the far right column on this site, just below the recent posts block, you will see a box with the total year to date return of a quick and dirty ETF portfolio I put together. The portfolio consists of equal dollar weights of the following five ETF’s:
- NASDAQ 100 Index-QQQ (QQQQ: 47.36 +0.01 +0.02%)
- Spyder S&P 500 ETF (SPY: 115.46 +0.01 +0.01%)
- StreetTRACKS Gold Trust (GLD: 107.95 -0.65 -0.60%)
- DJ Euro STOXX 50 ETF (FEZ: 39.17 +0.13 +0.33%)
- United States Oil Fund (USO: 39.51 -0.54 -1.35%)
If you click in the name (Indexes) of the portfolio you will be taken to the portfolio site. There you will be able to navigate through the pages to see transaction history, holdings and performance. I have been using this site for a couple of days and I am please with the results and possibilities. A couple of notes on the performance calculations: The starting value of this portfolio was $5,000 on Jan 2, 2008. Also, the total return calculations are 3 business days old as calculated by the portfolio site.
My plans are to use this portfolio service to track the results of this site’s Income Portfolio and Opportunities Portfolio. I will be able to take the portfolios to another level with buy and sell trades. The results will also account for commissions and dividends, giving a real world view of how my stock picks are performing. I will be getting the Income Portfolio info up on that page in a couple of days and plan to start the Opportunities Portfolio at the beginning of the 4th quarter.
